West Newton Community Festival General Pageant Rules:

 

1.     You must have a current West Newton Address OR live in the Yough School District at least 50% of the time.

2.    Each Applicant will have Exactly 1 Week to Return their Application once it has been picked up. If you DO NOT RETURN your Application within the week, it will be considered VOID and you will have to reapply to the pageant.

3.     A $20.00 registration fee (Non-refundable) is required from each applicant, to help off-set the costs of the pageant. (Non-refundable means if you drop out of the pageant after you have submitted your application – your entrance fee will not be refunded)

4.     A 5 x 7 “Natural” Photo of the contestant must accompany the completed application (“Natural” means very little to no makeup with a natural pose), this photo does not need to be a professional photograph). All contestants’ photographs WILL NOT be returned and will become property of The West Newton Community Festival.

5.     Due to limited space, the contestants are taken on a first come first service basis only.

6.     Completed Applications must be accompanied by the $15.00 registration (non-refundable)fee, a copy of the contestant’s birth certificate and proof of residency (can be junk mail with name and address on it) and the 5 x 7 Natural Photo. Any application received back with-out all required information will not be considered a valid application.

7.    If you have submitted a valid application with all the requirements then each contestant is required to attend the 1st Mandatory Pageant Meeting and practice at the Vine Street Park, date and time TBA. You will be receiving an entire overview and instructions for the pageant at this time

If at this time you decide you are not willing to commit to obligations of the pageant practices and winners duties, please contact Debbie Shanahan and resign your application so another girl has the chance to enter the pageant.

8.     Contestant’s numbers will be based on when application are received back (1st back will be contestant #1 and so on.) Contestant’s placement in the line up has no bearing on the judges’ scores. Judges score each girl individually during all phases of the competition.

9.    Attendance to all the rehearsals is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED, Contestants have a lot to learn prior to the pageant, and it is in their best interest to attend. The First Practice  and the Final Practice ARE MANDITORY!

10.  Sportsmanship is a must!!!! And must be followed at all times!

11.  All Contestants from all 4 pageants are required to be in the parade on Saturday afternoon as the winner, 1st Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up or The Court.

 

 

12.  The young lady that is crowned, will attend certain community functions and parades within our community and in surrounding communities, she must be willing to attend each of these events as a representative of the West Newton Community Festival. If you are unable to attend something you should contact Debbie Shanahan or Alyson Swank.

13.   The winners will be expected to attend the West Newton Community Festival the rest of the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and being dressed appropriately, wearing crown and sash at all times. (There is a no jeans policy for ALL public appearances all year long – unless otherwise stated)

14.  You will always check in with Debbie or Alyson to see what you are to do. They must know where you are at all times. Parents are welcome to observe but are not expected to be included in the girl’s appearances, The Girls Are the Representatives of the Festival, not you.

15.  For parades or appearances you are to contact Debbie or Alyson to check what to wear and any additional questions that you may have. A formal dress is not always needed for parades. In most cases we want the girls dressed in an All White or Cream outfit for all appearances.

16.  During parades you will be driven by a festival committee member with the rest of the winners.

17.  You are expected to help with the plans and preparation for the following years pageant.

18.  The winner of each age group is required to attend the festival the following year to give up her title. She is not permitted to compete until she reaches the next title age group. Her mom is also asked to assist with the following years pageant.

19.  The pageant will be held rain or shine.

20.  Parents are NOT permitted on the stage at any time during the pageant.

21.  RULE 20 - Is The Most Important Rule – PLEASE Be Sure Before You Enter This Pageant,  That YOU and YOUR PARENTS Are Willing To Commit To A YEAR LONG TITLE.  To make every possible attempt to attend each and every scheduled appearance that the pageant committee asks you to attend. That you are available to be on the festival grounds the entire weekend after winning your title. That you and your mom are willing to help with fundraising for your year long activity fund, and the following year’s pageant. Finally, that your and your mom are willing to help out at the following year’s pageant planning, practices and you both will be there on pageant day to pass on your title and assist the pageant committee with all the needs for the day. IF you are not willing to commit to these terms whole-heartily, then please step aside and let other girls that are willing to make such commitments have a chance to enter the pageant. 

22. All contestants from all 4 age divisions will be performing the opening dance number together on stage.

 

WNCF Mini Princess and Mini Queen Pageant 2008

Friday Evening September 5th at 6:00 PM

 

WNCF Mini Princess and Mini Queen Contest Rules:

 

1.       Mini Princess applicants must be between the age of 4 - 6 years old

2.       Mini Queen applicants must be between the age of  7- 9 years old

3.       The Mini Princess and Mini Queen Pageants are considered “Natural Pageants”; meaning any contestant wearing Fake Eyelashes, Fake Hair Pieces, and any makeup beyond lip gloss will be disqualified from the contest.

4.       All contestants will compete in Party Dress Modeling and On-Stage interview contests.

5.       There will be a Winner, 1st Alternate, and 2nd Alternate for both the Mini Princess and Mini Queen.         If the winner can not perform her duties the 1st Alternate will take over the duties of the winner.

6.       Contestants must wear a Party Dress that is Age Appropriate.

7.       One Photogenic winner will be chosen for each age group along with other Side Awards for Most Beautiful, Prettiest Hair, Prettiest Smile and Best Fashion.

8.     ALL JUDGES SCORES ARE FINAL!                                                                                             (Please Note: NO Member of the pageant committee has any say on who is crowned Mini Princess & Mini Queen – This is ONLY Based on the Judges Scores)                                                                                                                                                   All judges are brought in from outside the community and do not know any of the contestants.

9.       At the Final Practice Each Mini Princess contestant will vote as to who will win the Miss Personality Contest amongst all Mini Princess contestants and all the Mini Queen contestants will vote as to who will win the Miss Congeniality Contest amongst all the Mini Queen contestants. In the Event of a Tie, the Pageant Committee will decide who wins the titles.  

10.   No Prize Money will be given if you choose not to perform your duties and you will not be allowed to enter again if you cannot follow the rules.

11.   The Pageant Committee would like to stress that winning each title is A Year Long Commitment with many appearances you will be asked to make. PLEASE be sure that YOU and YOUR PARENTS are willing to attend the majority of these appearances during the year.  If you feel you can not devote yourself at least 95% of the time, then please step aside and let another girl that is willing, have the chance at the title.

WNCF Princess and Queen Pageant 2008

Friday Evening September 5th at 6:00 PM

 

WNCF Princess and Queen Contest Rules:

 

1.       Princess applicants must be between the age of 10-14 years old

2.       Queen applicants must be between the age of 15-18 years old

3.       The Princess and Queen Pageants are considered “Natural Pageants”; meaning any contestant wearing fake eyelashes, fake hair pieces or an extreme amount of make up will be disqualified from the contest. Make up is limited to very light power or foundation to even out skin tone, light blush, light lip gloss, eye make up be light and natural – No Dark Raccoon Eyes!

4.       All contestants will compete in Sportswear and Gown Modeling and On-Stage interview contests.

5.       All Contestants will also be required to perform in a short and simple opening dance routine and you will be instructed at the First Practice what attire you will be required to wear for that portion of the pageant.

6.       Contestants must wear a sportswear outfit and a gown that is Age Appropriate. Sportswear is defined by a nice non-denim material outfit you would wear to church or school, like a skirt or dress pants and blouse or sweater. Not Gym Clothing!

7.       There will be a Winner, 1st Alternate, and 2nd Alternate for both the Princess and Queen. If the winner can not perform her duties the 1st Alternate will take over the duties of the winner.

WNCF Pageant Rehearsal and Pageant Day Schedule

 

It is Strongly Recommended that All Contestants Attend All Rehearsals, there is a lot to learn in a very short time.  The First Pageant Meeting IS MANDATORY and must be attended or the contestants or you will be disqualified

(If the contestant is out of town on vacation, then you must notify the committee to be excused. If the committee is not notified then we will assume you have dropped out and you will be disqualified.)

The Final Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, September 4th MUST BE ATTENED BY ALL

 (No Excuses Will Be Accepted)

All Rehearsals will take place at The Vine Street Park and will Start Promptly at 6:45 pm, unless another time is stated.

In case of rain or if more rehearsal dates need added – you will be contacted by Debbie or Aly

It is very important that from the time Pageant Rehearsals Start until the Pageant is over, if you have provided an email address to check that email on a daily basis.

Practice Dates and Times Changes in the Event of Rain – Emails will be sent around 5:45 pm

At this meeting you will find out when all dance practice dates will take place, but be prepared that they may start on July 16th.

We will also be discussing the outfits for the pageant as well as hair and makeup looks.

Mandatory that All Pageant Contestants Attend

 

 ~ Pageant Weekend Schedule ~

Friday, September 5th and Saturday, September 6th

 

Friday, September 5th:  All Pageant Contestants MUST report to the dressing area by 5:00 pm and meet with the Pageant Committee to receive final instructions and to receive numbers that will be pinned onto your dress for the judges to see.

You will arrive wearing your opening dance number outfit and then change into your next outfit after the dance number is complete.

 

Saturday, September 6th: ALL Mini Princess ~ Mini Queen ~ Princess ~ Queen Contestants ARE REQUIRED to participate in the Festival Parade on Saturday, September 6th.

Everyone Must be dressed in their party dress/gown and wearing any contest sashes they may have won.

The Meeting Place and Time is: Train Station on Vine Street at 11:15 pm

 

Festival Weekend Duties for the Pageant Winners

 

Always be dressed either your Party Dress/Gown or an All White Outfit with Crown and Banner

All winners are to be on Festival Ground for the entire weekend. 

~   Friday night until at least 10PM     ~     Saturday from 11:15am until the Fireworks are over 

~   Sunday from 12 Noon until 6:00 PM   ~

 

You will be working the Festival Hot Dog and Pop booth, selling 50/50 tickets, selling tickets for the pageant raffle from the pageant booth.

 

Mingle with the crowd, making announcements as needed, helping with the All-Wheels and Pet Parades, and announcing the winner of the Beautiful Baby Contest, plus anything else that may come along that weekend that we feel would be fun for you to do.

 

The pageant booth will be our home base where you can rest and get out of the sun, we will try to provide drinks for you over the weekend but you will need to have money with you for your food and any games you may want to play or things you want to purchase.

Make sure to have a jacket with you for cool evening air and comfortable shoes to walk the festival grounds.

 

Princess and Queens, it will be your responsibility to watch out for the Mini Princess and Queen during the weekend while out on the festival grounds. And it is extremely important that  

Debbie or Aly know where all 4 girls are all times during the Festival Weekend.

 

Winners Parents – you are not required to be on the festival grounds the entire weekend, the only thing we ask of the Mini Princess and Mini Queen parents is that you advise us when you will not be on the festival grounds and that we have a number to reach in case of emergency.

 

It is a long weekend – so please be prepared for all you may need to do if you are the lucky crowned contestant.
